Commis Chef

Report to:                    Head Chef/ Sous Chef

Main Duties:

  • To ensure 4* standards of service at all times
  • To perform in a professional and courteous manner
  • To comply with statutory and legal requirements for Health & Safety for yourself, all employees and guests on the premises.
  • To ensure the highest level of customer care at all times
  • Attend and participate in hotel meetings and training when required by the General Manager.
  • To report any maintenance problems
  • To report to duty on time, in the correct uniform.
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
  • The Commis Chef will take direct orders from the Head/Sous Chef and will assist him in the running of the kitchen.
  • You will work under the Chef de Partie in order to learn the stations responsibilities and operation.
  • You will be spending a certain period of time in each section of the kitchen to learn the basics of that station.
  • You may be required to work unaided on the vegetable station.
  • You will assist the others Chefs as required and keep your station clean and tidy at all times.
  • Responsible for making sure that the section is cleaned properly, thoroughly and to the standards required before and after service.
  • To ensure that the fridges are cleaned daily to the standards required and that the food required for your section is properly stored to the required standards.
  • To make sure that all personnel abide by HACCP and the SOP’s.


You must be totally flexible in your position and any other duties deemed necessary by the manager.
