Job Title: Hotel Porter

Responsible to: Thys Vogels or Manager on Duty

  • To ensure the yard and grounds are kept clean and tidy at all times, all rubbish discarded properly and by performing basic maintenance tasks.
  • To ensure bars are stocked and kegs replaced when needed.
  • To check orders and deliveries and unload and store away.
  • To keep store areas clean and tidy.
  • To meet, greet and help carry guests luggage on arrival and departure in a polite and professional manner.
  • To communicate with Reception at all times.
  • Check function sheet on a daily basis and set up any meeting rooms etc as required.
  • To provide the highest standard of service in Room Service / Lobby Service Department
  • To ensure prompt service.
  • To exhibit a good knowledge of Room Service, Breakfast and Menu Items.
  • Room service trays and lobby trays to be kept at the highest standard of cleanliness at all times.
  • Carry out any special ‘Job of the Day’ as well as normal service required in specified length of time.
  • Assist Events Manager on Wedding and Events Days to set up Pavilion & Ballroom and ensure all public areas are kept clean & tidy throughout the day.
  • To operate plant & machinery with due care and attention ensuring adherence to health & safety procedures.
  • Reporting of any faulty electrical equipment.
  • To carry out the hotels customer care policies at all times, to communicate hotel services to guests.
  • To ensure that you present to work wearing the relevant uniform and name badge and to the highest possible standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • To ensure that all reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of yourself, other employees, guests and any other persons on the premises.
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene during work procedure by using correct chemicals and equipment provided.
  • To ensure that house policies regarding lost property are complied with at all times
  • To observe all safety rules and procedures.
  • To report and, where possible, take action on incidents of accidents, fire loss or damage.
  • To attend any meetings and training sessions when required to by the Head Porter or Management.
  • To help in other areas of service, i.e. Room Service, Bar Lunch, Functions & Night shifts.
  • To maintain at all times a good working relationship with your fellow workers and Management.
  • To be flexible with regard to working hours in order to handle any unexpected requirements.
